Located directly across the road from Laurel Bank Park, Urban Grounds Cafe is the ideal place to start your day, as they say breakfast is the most important meal! Fuel up on their brisket and chili beans, pea puree, sourdough, chorizo, chive cream, avocado and a poached egg before wandering over to Laurel Bank Park.
After you've explored Laurel Bank Park it is time to stop by the incredibly popular The Baker's Duck to grab your morning tea, a vanilla and raspberry tea cake topped with fresh berries and cream is waiting for you. The Baker's Duck is also conveniently located on the same street as the Botanic Gardens at Queens Park, so it is a great opportunity to get the tea cake as take away and enjoy it at the Botanic Gardens as a little picnic.
Once you have wandered through the beautiful blooms at Queens Park, it's time to head to your lunch destination, Rosalie House. Rosalie House is located 25 minutes slightly north west of Toowomba and is a cellar door and cafe, set on a vineyard offering beautiful views of Lilyvale Valley. Here your lunch special is locally sourced BBQ Awassi lamb kofta served on a bed of house made hummus, roasted vegetables and quinoa, topped with minted Awassi labneh, its even gluten free!
Continue your journey north of Toowoomba, heading just past the township of Crows Nest is Bunnyconellen. The perfect spot to sit back and relax in their olive grove and vineyard, taking in the country setting and indulging in their glazed hand- stretched brioche donuts, decorated with edible flowers of course.
Hot Tip; Detour on your way back to Toowoomba and check out Crows Nest National Park or Ravensbourne National Park and walk off some of your indulgences with the many walking tracks on offer, or drive straight to Gus Beutel's Lookout at Ravensbourne National Park to take in the spectacular view over the escarpment, a definite instagram worthy spot!
Once your tummy is settled and you are ready for more food, head to Sofra Turkish Cuisine for dinner. One of the most popular dining spots in Toowoomba, Sofra's offer a fully immersive taste of Turkey right in the heart of the Toowoomba CBD. Try out their September special, Turkish Gozleme with coban salad (with a choice of beef, chicken or spinach and cheese).
Let's not forget to finish the day off with dessert, after all there is always room for it right!? Just walking distance from Sofra's you will find Fitzy's Toowoomba. Fitzy's have created a dish that is the perfect representation of Spring, a deconstructed Pavlova. Designed to share for two with hand crafted rosewater marshmallow, meringue, raspberry gel, fresh raspberries, edible flowers, micro mint, passionfruit jelly, chantilly cream, pashmak, strawberries, frozen berries. If you don't feel like collapsing into a food coma after today, Fitzy's is also a great spot to continue the night with some drinks and live music.
